Padstow's hidden gem...

Not many people still know about the wonderful little Padstow Food Fair and Farmers Market hidden away in the Memorial Hall in Padstow.

Full of local small businesses this market gives them a platform to showcase their creations and offer something that quite often cannot be found in many of the main shops within the town.

It was great to join this team back in December last year in the lead up to Christmas and since then it has been a continuing journey of finding my feet and learning the customer base which constantly changes throughout the year.

In recent weeks my cakes have certainly been going down a storm and this has been the natural route I have been led down, adding to the table each week with different cakes ready to be enjoyed with a cup of tea, especially on these chilly autumn afternoons!

I like to ensure there is something for everyone on my table and cakes can be found in sizes suitable for one, two or four or more people, there's something chocolatey, something fruity and always something classic, with my style generally being a twist on a traditional or classic bake, giving it an "edge" or "lift" from how you may have seen it served before or in the past.

In the new COVID-19 times we now find ourselves living in, you will not always find me at my stall as the market is now being run slightly differently to enable us all to trade and keep within the regulations that have been put in place however, there is a fantastic team that run the market on a daily basis when open and with my stall especially they have tried enough products to be able to talk about them with you should you have any questions!!

The Fine Fodder stall is in good company with Cornish producers; Rock Gin, Lantic Gin and Elemental Gin all bringing the latest "craze" of dry and flavoured gins to the market, there are normally tasters too!! Langley's Rocky Road award winning chocolate, Cuckoo Valley craft cider, Hot Sauce Committee chilli sauces for those that like something hot, Naturally Gorgeous Cosmetics with their beautiful soaps and beauty products with zero-waste friendly packaging, Peter Hodges Photography, stunning landscape photos from around Cornwall, Pasha handmade jewellery, the Cornish Olive Stall with olives in various oils and marinades - they'll be too much choice, Bee Retro Beeswax Wraps - the perfect environmental friendly way to keep your food covered, Hedgerow Pantry - foraged and unusual preserves, pickles and local honey, Reflections of Cornwall - handcrafted liqueurs perfect with prosecco or in cocktails, they'll be some I've missed that also trade at the market but as you can see you could quite literally visit this market and find something for everyone on your Christmas list!!

I really enjoy trading in the market and this was one of directions from the start that I wanted to head in and being able to do this in my local town has just made the whole experience even better.

So if you're in Padstow, do pop into the market you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find!!
